Beautiful Feet Week 1 April 1, 2012

The theme at Crossroads in April was “Beautiful Feet”. Romans 10:15 says, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” This series commisioned Crossroads to be sent with beautiful feet across the street, around Wichita, to Bangladesh and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). This was be a very special month as Crossroads is turning the corner to focusing our energies even more on people who won’t come to church, whom Christ died for. Jeff Mullen begins the “Beautiful Feet” month by sharing from Romans 10 and Isaiah 6.

A key quote from Jeff’s message is this: “Unless you live in a complete vacuum, void of any human contact, I don’t see how you can escape the calling of Christ. I just don’t. I think the closest thing we have to living in a vacuum is being completely surrounded by Christians. Becoming buried in our church body doing nothing but interacting with church friends, where all of our free time is tied up around those church activities. I think that’s an easy trap to get into because who doesn’t love to be around people who love you? They’re supporting, they’re loving and they nurture us and none of that is wrong. It only becomes wrong when it engulfs the entirety of our life and we are exclusive to those people who need the good news. “

Community Group Sunday May 27th, 2012

Sunday, May 27th will be Community Group Sunday, which occurs once a month where there will not be an all-church gathering for a worship service. Crossroads Community Groups are encouraged to meet together on this Sunday and do whatever is appropriate for their group in maintaining a healthy balance in Gospel, Inclusive Community, and Mission, whether that is meeting in a home for worship, doing a service project somewhere, having a party or gathering with some new friends who may not know Christ. Sunday mornings are an excellent time to intentionally be with people who ‘won’t go to church’ as we have appropriate expressions of who the church is as two or three gather in the name of Christ to point to His redemption.

If you are not a part of a community group, now would be a great time to consider joining one and learning the rhythms of Gospel, Community, and Mission. See the full list here and contact the church office if you have questions or would like recommendations for which group to join.

Money Matters

FEBRUARY AT CROSSROADS

The theme at Crossroads in February will be “Money Matters”. Jesus talked about money more than any other topic in the gospels. He made it very clear that wherever we put our resources (including and especially our money), we also place our heart (our emotional, spiritual and time investment) as well. The two are inseparable. How we use money for the sake of mission, blessing, and benevolence has a renewed critical importance in this new season of ministry-adventure at Crossroads. A response form will be available for you at the end of the month to formally give feedback and response to the biblical teachings of the series. This series will also consider the themes of stewardship as a spiritual discipline, tithing, offerings, generosity, and blessing. We will spend at least three of the four Sundays of February being equipped and challenged to “store up for ourselves treasurers in heaven” so that we can fulfill God’s calling on our lives and as a church. Join us at 10:30 am…

Sunday, February 5th, Jeff Mullen will be speaking at Stucky Middle School.
